Freshers were officially welcomed to De Montfort University Leicester as they attended the annual Matriculation ceremonies at The Venue@DMU.
Students were treated to a spectacular hour-long show which showcased all of the best things about the university and were given useful information about the various opportunities available to them during their time at DMU.
The Be The Change Research Festival – named after the saying attributed to Gandhi that you must “be the change you wish to see in the world”. This was a showcase of the dynamic work being done across DMU with open audience debates throughout the day.
Researchers from the faculties of Business and Law, Arts, Design and Humanities, Health and Life Sciences and Technology gave short presentations. Each academic had 10 minutes to showcase an area of their work and take questions from the audience.

It’s always brilliant when I get to document important times in people’s lives, and that’s exactly what I got to do, as Leicester Apprenticeship Hub held their second annual graduation event for Leicester and Leicestershire apprentices who gained their advanced or higher apprenticeship qualifications this year. The event was a celebration of the achievements of apprentices in a wide variety of local businesses and industries.
